Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
At Srinidhi Heart and Child Clinic, we specialize in providing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI), a minimally invasive procedure used to treat coronary artery disease (CAD) and restore blood flow to the heart. Led by Dr. V Sravan Kumar, our skilled team is dedicated to delivering safe and effective PCI procedures to improve heart health and enhance the quality of life for our patients.
Diagnosis and Evaluation
Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment: We utilize advanced imaging techniques and diagnostic tests to accurately assess the extent and severity of coronary artery disease (CAD) and identify suitable candidates for PCI.
Coronary Angiography: An invasive procedure using X-ray imaging and a special dye to visualize the coronary arteries and identify blockages.
Non-Invasive Imaging: Techniques such as CT angiography and cardiac MRI to evaluate coronary artery disease without invasive procedures.
Treatment Procedure
Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): During PCI, a thin, flexible tube called a catheter is inserted into a blood vessel, usually in the groin or wrist, and guided to the blocked coronary artery. A small balloon at the tip of the catheter is inflated to compress the plaque and widen the narrowed artery, restoring blood flow. In many cases, a stent is also placed in the artery to help keep it open.
Coronary Stenting: Placement of a small mesh tube, called a stent, in the coronary artery to prevent it from re-narrowing after balloon angioplasty. Drug-eluting stents may be used, which release medication to prevent scar tissue formation and reduce the risk of re-narrowing.
Pre-Procedure and Post-Procedure Care
Pre-Procedure Evaluation: Thorough assessment and consultation to determine the suitability of PCI for each patient, including a review of medical history, medications, and risk factors.
Post-Procedure Monitoring: Close monitoring in the immediate aftermath of the procedure to ensure there are no complications and to assess the success of the treatment.
Recovery and Rehabilitation: Guidance on recovery, including physical activity recommendations, dietary changes, and medication management to support heart health and prevent recurrence.
Ongoing Care and Support
Regular Follow-ups: Scheduled visits to monitor the patient’s progress, assess treatment effectiveness, and make necessary adjustments to the care plan.
Patient Education: Providing detailed information about the PCI procedure, recovery process, lifestyle modifications, and medication adherence to empower patients in managing their condition effectively.
Emergency Care: Immediate attention and intervention for any post-procedure complications or acute coronary events, ensuring prompt and effective treatment.
